Hey, I’m Elliot

I’m a Toronto-based filmmaker, writer, director and editor drawn to character, comedy and the little moments in between.

My work blends a love of classic cinema with a contemporary, playful sensibility — spanning narrative shorts, travel films, comedy and commercial work. Whether writing, directing or editing, the goal is the same: make something I would want to see.

The Long Way Around

I came to filmmaking by the long way around — through acting, design, editing, production work and a lot of making things with friends.

That path has shaped the kind of filmmaker I want to be. I'm interested in work that feels handmade, considered and distinctly personal. I like old movies, great title sequences, imperfect characters, dry humour and finding cinematic moments in otherwise ordinary places.

Elsona Films

Elsona Films is my personal filmmaking label — a home for the things I make simply because I want them to exist.

Short films, travel pieces, visual experiments and whatever else I find interesting enough to point a camera at.

Front Row Productions

Front Row Productions is an independent production company founded by Elliot Jannetta, Wes Adams and James Sokoloski.

Built around a shared love of filmmaking and collaboration, Front Row is where our larger narrative projects come together — from development through production and post.
